Retail
The retail industry in Ontario presents a special environment for employers. Businesses typically include dozens or hundreds of retail locations, in a wide variety of communities involving different customer and labour bases, cultural norms and languages. Retail businesses include challenges associated not only with front store management but also employment and labour concerns relating to shipping and warehousing, transportation, product delivery, installation and outside sales.
CCPartners has experience in guiding our retail clients in establishing training protocols to create a common approach to compliance with employment standards legislation, including the scheduling of hours of work, public holidays and Sunday operations. We advise and represent our retail clients in respect to human rights issues, union organizing and certification proceedings, and management contracts and compensation. With the development of accessibility legislation for all businesses, we are able to assist and advise our retail clients with elements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act as well as the Human Rights Code as it also applies to their customers. We also assist our retail clients in bringing a consistent approach to cross-provincial and international operations while observing compliance with the employment standards legislation of each jurisdiction whether within our outside of Canada.
We have special expertise in dealing with retail clients in respect of issues of occupational health and safety, workplace violence and workplace safety and insurance (workers’ compensation).
