Telecommunications
Communications and information technology are among one of Canada’s major industries. Services in this sector include telephone and cellular telephone, national data networks, optical fiber networks, cable, television and internet access. Although labour relations legislation is usually a provincial responsibility, these sectors are governed by federal legislation.
At CCPartners we help clients in the telecommunications industry navigate through the myriad of federal legislation including the Canada Labour Code (including Federal Health and Safety), The Canadian Human Rights Act, as well as Federal employment equity and pay equity legislation. We assist our clients by appearing for them in the federal courts and tribunals on unjust dismissal claims, human rights, grievance arbitrations, and labour injunctions. As well as providing advice on interpretation of the various legislation, and collective agreements, we also provide advice on subcontracting and outsourcing agreements. We are also at the table with our clients when there are labour negotiations.
